This week I decided to tackle my sock drawer. All I can say is ‘What was I thinking when I bought all these socks?’
When I was still working I wore a lot of trouser socks. Since I retired, I don’t dress up that much anymore, so I really don’t need 40 pairs of trouser socks. So any trouser sock that was in good condition but in a color I didn’t like was donated to charity. Any trouser sock that was not in great condition was tossed. I now have 26 pairs of trouser socks in the drawer. I know it’s still too many but I should not have to buy any trouser socks for a very, very long time. Next, I went through all my white crew and ankle socks. I bought ankle socks thinking I would like them with my gym shoes. I hated them and never wore them. So all the ankle socks were donated to charity since they were new. Any crew socks with holes or elastic that was shot was tossed.
I added some dividers in the drawer and re-folded the socks. Here’s what I ended up with:
So I guess I still wonder, how many pairs of socks does one person need?
I am participating in the 52 Weeks of Organizing Challenge hosted by Laura at Orgjunkie, and Organizing Mission Monday at Organize with Sandy. Please check them out to find other organizing projects.
